People say I'm crazy doing what I'm doing

Louise Brooks
In an attempt to find a quote to summarize this weekend I turned to Mario Puzo's The Godfather (because Ian has it sitting on the computer desk) for a little bibliomancy and this is the first sentence I read:

The five New York Dons were stout, corpulent men with massive leonine heads, features on a large scale, fleshy imperial noses, thick mouths, heavy folded cheeks. They were not well tailored or barbered; they had the look of no-nonsense busy men without vanity.

Sorry, Mario, but I did not hang with the Dons this weekend. Instead Ian and I hung with the musicians yesterday and listened to my co-worker play a gorgeous Brahms piece and some jazz musicians do their thing. It was the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Saturday I just worked and then came home. I thought it was going to ice over so we didn't do anything expect knit and play computer games.

My mom gave me permission to have fun today but I have things that need to be checked off the list. Groceries just won't buy themselves and Grendel refuses to drive to the store. Plus, I was a slug last week and didn't exercise so I need get back on that wagon again.

Here's a picture I took a couple years ago at the ocean.  Some sea creature was hanging out while the ocean passed it by.

It's sort of reflects how I feel today.

Mellow and calm and ready to watch the rest of the world go by me.

I'll post some pictures of the SNOW a little later.

Sheesh! Some gratitude you get from Gendel. You work and slave to keep his home nice and he won't even drive to the store.

Has it snowed enough for you? Do you have chains in your trunk? A blanket? Food? A coloring book? You need them all to go to the store. (In fairness, I took the train in to work but that was because of the line of accidents between home and work, and I'm just not up for sitting in traffic on a Monday. And I got to re-watch the first episode of Torchwood on my little mp3 player. Where'd I get it? Wouldn't YOU like to know...) (Also to be fair, on the west side there was a substantial amount of ice on the roads. But was it enough to justify "special coverage" of the "winter storm"?)

I took a picture of the blizzard-like conditions in our front yard. I will post it later. I forgot to put chains in the trunk when we went out, though. Next time I'll bring a coloring book.

I don't blame you for wanting to avoid the accidents. I would have taken the train, too.

With fronds like those, you don't need anemone! Wonder how it felt about having sand in its mouth. Hope you are having a great day! Andrea

I didn't ask if enjoyed the sand. Maybe it was some needed extra roughage.

Ah ha! So that's what they're called. I grew up in NoDak and there are no sea anenomes there.

I went through a longish and semi-torrid love affair with all things tide pool-ish during my youth. I was dead set on becoming a marine biologist...until I realized I had to take math and science...like WHATEVER. I just liked touching all the slimy things in the water! :) And I still do. I swear, sometimes I wanna push kids away at those tide pool thingies so I can get in on the "action"

yeah, I'm pathetic! ;)

Right On!
Being a marine biologist is fun! Why not play in the tide pools along with the kids?

I think this one is the last on the page here:

This site may be better:

Re: Right On!
Oh, I SO want to see a green carpet anenome...so cool!

Oh, I will totally take my kid down to the tide pools! I usually force my hubby to come play in them with me, though I don't get to the beach as much as before. :( And they don't have big ol' fat sea cucumbers in the tide pools up here (at least that I've seen). That was also a favorite of mine as a kid....living sea veggies! ;)

thanks for the links!
